In order to comply with social distancing guidelines our staff cannot currently assist individuals in a side-by-side/one-on-one manner. This means we are still available to answer questions at the reference desk, but we are not able to stand beside our visitors in order to teach the basics of how to use a computer or assist in the navigation of the internet or websites at this time. We look forward to being able to offer this assistance again in the future when it is possible. Thank you for your patience and understanding.

Call 724-287-1715 to schedule an appointment. Patrons are limited to one hour per day. Appointments are limited and are made on a first come, first serve basis. Appointments can be made up to two weeks in advance.

Please arrive at least 5 minutes prior to your scheduled appointment time. Go to the second floor Reference Desk where a staff member will assign you to a specific computer. Bring your library card or your photo ID.

You must wear a mask at all times. Room capacity limits will be enforced. The computer keyboard, mouse and nearby surfaces are cleaned between each use.

Toys and furniture have been temporarily removed as a safety precaution.
Visits to the Genealogy Department will be by appointment on Mondays, Thursdays, and one Saturday per month. Please call 724-287-1715 to reserve your 1 hour session.
Used research materials will be quarantined for 3 days, and work stations will be disinfected between use.
Genealogy staff will also be available M-F to answer your research questions by phone, mail, or email. Call 724-287-1715 or email

If you have a question not addressed here, email, message us privately on Facebook, or leave a message at 724-287-1715.

Library staff continues to monitor local, state, and federal recommendations regarding the response to the spread of the COVID-19 virus.

Like many businesses and government agencies, our plan to resume regular services will happen in stages, with the safety of our patrons and staff as a priority. Please check the library’s website and social media accounts for the most up to date information on the library’s plan to restore services. We encourage you to continue to use all the electronic resources available through your library’s e-resource page on their website.  You can visit for more information on e-resources and links to the BCFLS member libraries.

Thank you for your patience!
