| We like to think that The Butler Area Public Library is a vital and essential part of the community. There is a reason our logo contains the phrase, “education, inspiration, possibilities…” There is an endless supply of those three things under our roof. Unfortunately, for us to add and keep current with that supply, we need your help. While our registered borrower and annual library visits grow by the thousands every year, our government funding does not always reflect that fact. The financial aid we receive from the state greatly depends on what we receive from our donors. |

Here are a few facts concerning the Butler Area Public Library:
* Over 1000 children took part in our Summer Reading Program this year.
* We offer computer terminal use to those, who may not have such access at home, and everyday, those terminals are fully utilized.
* The BAPL has a computer lab that can be reserved for functions, such as training sessions. The computer lab is available for non-profit and for-profit organizations.
* The BAPL is one of the few such institutions that have earned the right to be a proud affiliate member of the National Network of Libraries of Medicine. This affiliation was accomplished because we thought the citizens of our community deserved to have access to the most thorough health information and education that we could possibly provide them.
* The BAPL has one of the finest genealogy departments in the country, providing necessary tools to assist our patrons in learning more about the past, their families and, therefore, themselves. BAPL’s Genealogy department is also the home of The Obituary Index, which is an amazing database of over 100,000 obituaries from Butler County newspapers, 1818-2000.
…and that’s just scratching the surface.
The fact is, all of the wonderful things mentioned above, cost money.
