Welcome to the Butler Area Public Library's
Children's Creative Writing Workshop
Resource Page
If you would like to see what your child worked on during the November 20 session or if your child is registered, but could not attend this workshop, please see the information below:
-
We began the session with the children sharing their haiku poems.
-
We then discussed fairy tales and some things that all fairy tales have in common. The children then took some time to jot down summaries of their favorite fairy tales. We then talked about "fractured" fairy tales, which are simply fairy tales that have been altered by telling the story from a different perspective, changing the time and place where the story takes place, telling the story with a humorous point of view, changing the gender roles, etc. The assignment for next month is to write a two-page fractured fairy tale, being as creative as possible.
The next session will take place on December 18 at 4:00pm.
